This is a medium irrigation project in Palakkad district (Kerala). The project consists of a masonry dam, with earthen saddle on either side constructed across the Cherakkunnampuzha located in Kizhakkancherry and Vancazhi village of Alathur Taluk, Palakkad District. The Full Reservoir Level is at +77.88 m and capacity is 25.494 MCM. The water spread area at FRLFull Reservoir Level is 3.96 Sq.km. The dead storage of the reservoir is 0.150 MCM and live storage 25.344 MCM.

The length of masonry portion is 162 m and the earthen saddle on left side is 752 m and for the right side earthen saddle is 143 m. The catchment area of the project is 48.85 Sq.km. There are two main canals - Left Bank Canal (LBC) of length 24.00 km and Right Bank Canal (RBC) of 21.50 km. The proposed ayacut of the project is 3.440 Th ha.

The Project commenced in 1953 and completed in the 1962.
